The cover goes the length of the leather portion of the girth. Buckles extend past the sheepskin. Using a 1" medical grade Merino sheepskin allows more comfort and less chance of pinching or chaffing the horses' underside.

Girths are made of from quality skirting leather, hand dyed, conditioned and oiled for a long life. Threads are a bonded nylon to withstand weather, dirt and even urine. Hardware is either a quality brass (comes with brass if not specified) or Nickel plated.
